Frederic Mompou (Barcelona 1893-1987), one of the most important Spanish composers of the 20th century, studied at the Conservatorio del Liceo in Barcelona and at Motte-Lacroix in Paris. His piano compositions are characterized by self-determination and fine aestheticism. He rooted the sounds of his Catalan homeland in European music, creating pieces of simple magic and deep symbolism.

Colombian singer Lorena Madrid and the Cuban pianist Yamilé Cruz Montero form the song evening. Constanze Álvarez Lutz introduces the composer’s life and work.
